FUN AND LIVELY RHYMES FOR CHILDREN(volunteer teachers handbook for Non-formal Education)Vol 1
Preface
Most of the curriculums are aimed to shape out the children to become decent citizens starting from healthy childhood not only by educational perspective but also from political, social, religious and economical perspectives.
But in non-formal education system, it does not work like in institutional one. It takes the teaching hours, children’s learning ability and the skills of the staffs for children to enjoy the classroom. It is obvious that this is a major problem in non-formal education system.
As it is told, “teaching and guiding” are the vital duties of teachers. Moreover the staffs teaching the children with their love, ++, caring, forgiveness, understanding, acceptance and dedication to their work is simply a work so touching and to be proud of. The non-formal education system is also called the “survival education” by the public. It is true to be called so because education is the survival need for everyone.
Volunteer teachers must create a fun atmosphere in the classroom for the children. It is also important that there must be some rhymes or songs for children to sing during their daily life. By teaching rhymes, poems and songs that can be pinned in their hearts with regards to their age, IQ, their environment and their life experience, it is believed to be able to change their behaviour significantly and steadily. That is why I collected the children rhymes and poems and wrote this handbook.
It is aimed to make children be able to think creatively as if they see the statement “the sun is the heart of the day”, then “the moon and the stars are the heart of the night” must have been thought in their mind.
It should not be focused only on teaching the children the grammar only. They also have the right to learn painting, saying rhymes, playing and to reduce their burdens by themselves with the poems and rhymes taught in the class. When they are struggling for their lives in the cruel world, the rhymes should accompany them in theirs daily life. For children who did not have a chance to go to bed by listening fairytales in their early childhood, the songs, rhymes, poems that are taught by the volunteer teachers will help them to achieve a better life for sure. Isn’t it the music is a way of releasing our stress and pain.....?
Foreword for the volunteer teachers Music and poems play the main role in sending the message about morals and good behaviours to the heart of children. The arts is one of the subjects that support the developments of the children and it also has the power of moulding the children to become better ones.
This handbook is aimed at the children to get the ideas which include in a rhymes altogether with the words, sentence construction and rhythms and the rhymes become involved while they play and more than that, to feel the beauty of the rhymes and to get the strength in their lives.
Children are already familiar with the traditional songs and rhythms. By studying the rhymes included in this handbook, you will see that the rhymes are written with rhythms.
· Rhymes are compact and rich with meanings.
· Rhythms in the rhymes make the subjects more colourful, more interesting.
· They can be memorized easily.
· The key of enthusiasm is the rhythms. Learning rhymes is full of fun.
· It can broaden the capacity of thinking with new things to compare and contrast.
It is necessary to teach the rhymes to children according to the reasons just mentioned above. To make the feelings more obvious and noticeable, the volunteer teacher must kindly say the rhymes in a beautiful way.
Saying the rhymes is better with musical instruments such as a guitar or other supportive actions like dancing and acting. It is important for the one who says the rhymes to change the tempo higher or lower to get emphasized on the “ya tha++” of the rhymes. By doing so, the children can get not only the intended message from the rhymes but also how to give a thought about the facts at the same time.
According to author’s experience in teaching, children rhymes are capable of...
· making a child to get acquainted with other children faster,
· stimulating to cooperate with others,
· making the children to be kind-hearted in a short time,
· regulating the heart rates of the children who say the rhymes together and
· preventing being selfish, feeling left out and giving up.
The pleasance, peace, bravery, nobility, love etc., in the rhymes can make good sensitivity and kind-heartedness. The good-mindedness born in their early childhood is the foundation of further decency and nobility while they’re aging. And it can also help to develop positive thinking minds.
A children rhyme is a bridge between the child and the human society.
